Wednesday 3/4/20

This morning in Health, we discussed the coronavirus to dispel some myths and (hopefully) relieve some stress around it. We referenced an NPR article (found here) and the infographic below. There is also information on the CBE website: https://cbe.ab.ca/news-centre/Pages/coronavirus-update-for-cbe-families.aspx

In Math, we continued practicing 3-digit by 1-digit division through word problems. Students have a check-in on this concept tomorrow. Below, are the answer keys to the word problems from the past few days, as well as some information on different strategies.

In LA, we introduced the upcoming Read-a-Thon, happening March 7-15, and students completed a paragraph from the provided topic sentence: "The C-train suddenly stopped inside the tunnel." We will share these tomorrow.

This afternoon, students had time to work on unfinished work/quiet reading. In Social, we continued jot notes on the Great Lakes/St. Lawrence Lowlands region. In Science, Mr. Risdon led a lesson on electromagnets. He modeled how wrapping wire around a nail and attaching the ends of the wire to the positive and negative terminals of a battery creates a magnet! Students worked through an experiment to see how this works.

Read-a-Thon information came home today! Pledges can be collected between now and March 15. Completed pledge forms need to be submitted to school by March 16.
