This morning, we started with some goal setting in Health. Students reflected on different areas for self-improvement in 2020. In Math, we started working on basic multiplication facts, with a focus on 2, 5, 9, and 10. Students are strongly encouraged to be practicing their basic multiplication facts and their corresponding division facts on a regular basis. In LA, students had time to start their planning for their Decade Writing assignment. After lunch, they had time to work on unfinished work. In Social, we reviewed and compared the Cordillera and Arctic regions. We also started working on the Interior Plains region. We ended the day by starting Chapter 8 of The Boundless.

Due Dates:
- Les vetements (colouring, front side only) due tomorrow (January 9)
- December Quote due Monday, January 13
- Birch Tree Art due Friday, January 17

Please return report card envelopes. The report card itself is for your records, but we will re-use the envelopes in June.

Please return Ski/Snowboard forms by Thursday, January 30.

Thank-you for your flexibility and enthusiasm as we begin this process of emergency distance learning! As I've mentioned, we are building toward the launch of our Google Classroom on Monday morning. This will be a very important space that will function as our online classroom. This is where you will be able to find important information, your assigned work for each week, and resources necessary to complete that work. When you first log in to the Classroom on Monday (through a link that will arrive in your educbe email that morning), the amount of work there might look overwhelming. I have decided to upload a whole week's worth of work at once, to allow you to work through it at the pace that works best for you. Some of the assignments have been split up by day of the week; this is a suggestion to help you decide what to work on when. However, it is ultimately up to you and your family how you would like to progress through. Feel free to do more than the one day's wort

Monday 3/30/20

Hi Grade 5 Families, Please keep an eye out for an email from me this afternoon outlining some of the next steps for learning adventures. I will also be phoning students over the next couple of days to check in and respond to any questions from the email. You need to know that you are missed at school but we are really excited about what lies ahead for us, and we will be sharing details with you through this coming week. I hope all of you have had a wonderful Spring Break! I have been using some of this time to catch up on my pile of books that I haven't had a chance to read. I hope each of you has got to spend some time doing some of your favourite activities!
