Tuesday 1/28/20

This morning in Math, we reviewed the three strategies for mental math multiplication: splitting up one of the factors (18 x 9 = (10x9) + (8x9) = 162); halving and doubling (splitting one factor in half and doubling the other); and compatible numbers with compensation (19 x 6 = (20x6) - (1x6) = 114). Students continued working on the practice questions in the textbook (90-91: #1, 3, 5, 7, 10-13). In French, students had more time to work on their "Les Vetements pour 4 Saisons" visual journal page. For Social, students continued their jot notes on the Canadian Shield region. This afternoon, we had a presentation on electricity from Inside Education/Enmax. We started Chapter 13 of The Boundless.
