Today in Math we had a check-in about patterns, giving students a chance to demonstrate their ability to identify and extend patterns, write pattern rules, solve problems using patterns, and write an expression with a variable to represent a pattern.

In French we reviewed and practiced our school vocabulary and students took home a study guide for our upcoming quiz. We also worked more on l'heure (time).

In Language Arts, we added a drawing and summary of chapter two to our storyboard for The Boundless, and made moustaches with Ms. Spelay's Grade 1 class.

In Social Studies we continued creating our Cordillera region travel brochures. These brochures are looking great so far, and would definitely convince travelers to come visit this westernmost region of Canada!

In Art we began working on birch tree art inspired by the work of Claude Monet. We got our pages set up with masking tape for our trees, and will begin painting another day soon! Stay tuned for the finished project!

A reminder that tomorrow is Facial Hair Friday, so students are encouraged to wear "facial hair" of some kind and/or bring money to donate for mens' health if you so desire. Students might want to make a moustache out of paper, purchase one from a dollar store, or draw one onto their finger to hold up to their lip. Feel free to get creative with this!
Tomorrow is also Deck the Halls, so students are welcome to dress in a festive manner, including but not limited to Santa/elf hats. We're excited to get our school ready for the holidays by creating and displaying some fun festive crafts!

Science Fair Message from Ms. Swinton:

We had our grade 5 science fair meeting today, and all students who have signed up for the science fair are now ready to begin working on their projects! A reminder that every time you work on your project, you need to be recording in your log book. The CYSF website FAQ section has a whole document about log books that will be very helpful in setting up this book and deciding what to include, so be sure to check it out! We will be ordering the trifolds tomorrow and will let you know when they arrive, but remember that creating your trifold to display your learning is the last step of your project! Let Ms. Swinton or Ms. Drummond know if you have any questions as you work on your project!
