Science Fair

Interested students will be bringing home information about the science fair today. Each student has a letter with important dates and a list of safety regulations, and each group has one shared consent form/proposal sheet. The first two pages are for you to keep at home as a reference, and the third sheet needs to be completed and returned to either Ms. Swinton or Ms. Drummond by Wednesday, November 20, along with $14 for the trifold. (One trifold per project.) Students have asked if they can bring their own trifold; the answer is yes, as long as it meets the city science fair guidelines. Trifold measurements, along with other important information and tips, can be found on the city science fair website, which all participating students are encouraged to check out (http://cysf.org/students/ ). The frequently asked questions section (http://cysf.org/students/project-faq/ ) will be particularly helpful. Thank-you for your flexibility and enthusiasm as we begin this process of emergency distance learning! As I've mentioned, we are building toward the launch of our Google Classroom on Monday morning. This will be a very important space that will function as our online classroom. This is where you will be able to find important information, your assigned work for each week, and resources necessary to complete that work. When you first log in to the Classroom on Monday (through a link that will arrive in your educbe email that morning), the amount of work there might look overwhelming. I have decided to upload a whole week's worth of work at once, to allow you to work through it at the pace that works best for you. Some of the assignments have been split up by day of the week; this is a suggestion to help you decide what to work on when. However, it is ultimately up to you and your family how you would like to progress through. Feel free to do more than the one day's wort

Hi Grade 5 Families, Please keep an eye out for an email from me this afternoon outlining some of the next steps for learning adventures. I will also be phoning students over the next couple of days to check in and respond to any questions from the email. You need to know that you are missed at school but we are really excited about what lies ahead for us, and we will be sharing details with you through this coming week. I hope all of you have had a wonderful Spring Break! I have been using some of this time to catch up on my pile of books that I haven't had a chance to read. I hope each of you has got to spend some time doing some of your favourite activities!
