Today, students had more time to work on their estimation practice pages. We continued our work on colours, months, and seasons in French. In LA, we reviewed the strong verb replacements for "jail words." Students worked through an "identity" check-in to show their understanding of this key concept in Social. We finished our novel and students had a short work on work period to end the day.

This morning, we started with Circle and Compliment circle. We viewed some of the Interior Plains News Casts. For French, we finished presenting the fashion shows. In Art, students had more time to work on their Mug art. We finished reading Chapter 14 of The Boundless and students worked on their storyboard. We ended the day with a Literacy-based activity writing kind notes to our buddy class. Overdue Work: - Mot Mystere - January quote - Decade Writing - 4 Saisons Vetements VJ page Next week is Teacher's Convention on Thursday and Friday, so there will be no school for students on February 13 and 14 . There is also no school on Monday, February 17 . The Grade 3's will be coming around on Monday selling the remaining Koalas for a Kause ($3.50 each) if you are interested in supporting this wonderful cause!

We are very happy to welcome back Mr. Risdon for the next 8 weeks! This morning in Math, students had time to work on Prodigy to polish their 2digit by 2digit multiplication skills. In French, they started learning "les mots sur les animaux de la ferme" (farm animal words). We also talked about Pink Shirt Day (coming up on Wednesday, February 26). Students brainstormed ways we can show kindness through a class discussion and in a written response. We also have two classmates decorating a puzzle piece about how we show kindness, based on our shared ideas. We will be having an assembly on Friday, February 21 to talk more about anti-bullying and kindness. This afternoon, students had time to work on unfinished work. The composer from Calgary Opera was here today, presenting to each grade group. In Social, students had their final class period to work on their fur trade diary entries. This morning we had a fabulous presentation on Acids, Bases, and pH! Students got to mix household chemicals to observe colour-changing reactions. After that, they worked as a group to identify what chemicals were used with the help of a universal indicator chart. Students worked through a check in to decide on and compare probability of different events. They also had their last (for now) composer session in Music. In Social, they worked more on their Arctic notes. In Art, we continued our Monet-inspired Birch Trees by adding snow and shadows. They are looking extremely beautiful! Students had their Positive Choice reward time with the computers and we ended the day with our novel.
